Standard Competence            : To understand the use of modals (can, may, must, will) in the form of a simple.
Basic Competence                 : Able to express the meaning and function of modals and be able to put the modals in simple sentences with correct.
Indicator                                : 1. Express the meaning and function of modals.
        2. Determine the appropriate modals in a sentence.
        3. Create their own sentences using the modals.

In the end of teaching and learning process, the students are able to :
1.        Able to make a sentence using modals.
2.        Able to recognize that there are modals in the sentence.
3.        Able to convey the meaning of sentences containing modals

Steps
Descriptions
I.     Introduction
-          Apperception
-          Greeting.
-          Introduce the topic.
II.  Core
-          Form a group.
-          Teacher distribute the guide paper and describes the procedure for discussion.
-          The teacher directs the students discussion until each group present their ideas about what it is and what functions modals in each sentence.
-          Teacher complement and add the statements of students.
-          Distribute the questions about the modals to students.
-          Discusses the questions

III.             Closing
-          Conclude the activity:
Teachers end the activity by asking back the material that has been described.

Modal Verb, Modal Auxiliary
Verb that is used with another verb, e.g can, may or should to express possibility, permission, ability to do something, etc.
Kind of Modal:
1.      Can and Could
-            Ability to di something
Ex :
I can speak English
I could speak English last year.
-            To ask for permission (Non Formal) we use ‘can’
1.   Can I borrow your dictionary?
2.   May I go with you?
3.   Is it possible if I might borrow your dictionary?
-            Possibility that happen, present or future
Ex : The dean can/could see you at his afternoon.
2.        May and Might
-            Possibility that happen, present or future
Ex : I may/might go to Denpasar tomorrow.
-            Polite suggestion
Ex : May/might I suggest you a away out.
3.        Must
-            Express necessity
Ex :      All students must study for final term test.
You must go to work.

                                           B    4 x 5 = 20
C    5 x 2 = 10  +
               Total     = 40
           
The score for students  =  40 x 10  = 100
